It's a dark day in America

Today, in California, and across the nation, gay and lesbian couples are celebrating a victory. Going against God's moral law, common sense and the establish law of the land for centuries (Proverbs 22:28), they have convinced themselves to be right. As I reflected on that this morning, I thought about the words of the scripture which reads, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death." (NIV) (Proverbs 14:12, 16:25) Legalizing sin does not make it moral or right in God's sight.

Jeremiah says, "My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water." (NIV)

In our society people use the argument that they have a relationship with the Lord. Sometimes it is difficult to know how to respond when someone claims to have a personal relationship with the Lord yet their lifestyle does not reflect a life of holiness. Jesus said, “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’" (NIV) You can be fruit watchers. Touting a personal relationship with Jesus does not give one liberty to change the moral law of God. Neither does it give us a right to forfeit a life holiness and purity.

I call us to seek God in these times. Join with thousands who will be going to Washington DC on August 16th of this year to call on the name of the Lord. Visit http://www.thecall.com/ for more information.

May God help us during these days.
